Kingsbury Water Park: Further Exploits

21 Jul

We’re now into day three of our break in the Warwickshire at the Kingsbury Water Park and in between the showers, some of them quagmire creators; we’ve done a bit more exploring of the area which is proving to be most interesting and fruitful.

Ah the Pub!

One of the first things we found (after a bit of digging I must admit), was the local hostelry, namely the Dog and Doublet Inn right on the tow path next to the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal which runs past the Kingsbury Water Park and is only a 15 min walk from the CCC site (we timed it). We only had time on this occasion for one beer each, but we made a mental note to return on future visits.

Water, Water Everywhere

As the name suggests Kingsbury Water Park is populated with lakes and pools everywhere you look. This in turn prompts a very large population of wild bird life, we were privy to see Herons and Kingfishers without any real effort so goodness knows what the numerous Twitchers that were wandering around the place all weekend, must see!

So What Do We Think?

This site is probably the best site we’ve been to so far, here’s why;

  1. The location of the site; immediately next door to the park accessed through a small gate or via the main entrance.
  • There’s plenty to do locally ranging from walks (long and short), water sports, nature stuff and shopping in towns.
  • There’s a decent pub nearby and two in the local village of Kingsbury which is a mile away (although we didn’t get there on this occasion)
  • There’s WiFi on site or better still, a moderately good 3G connection via the mobile network.

On the downside:

The M42 motorway, being only about 1/4 mile away means there’s constant background traffic noise. However, we’re used to that – but if total silence is important then this site s not for you.

In Conclusion

We love this site and will come again. It’s ideal for a week or just for a few days and given that it’s a 2.5 hour drive from home. Perfectly reachable.
