Hell’s Bells Bill: Your Tail Gave us a Whipping!

26 Aug

In yesterday’s post – I was sceptical about the need to have a storm strap pegged down over the front of our awning despite the predications of the site manager, that the tail end of Hurricane Bill was about to hit.

After all when the need to have one was explained the sun was out and blue skies a yonder.

However, by 2am this morning, I was glad we did as Bill’s Tail was whipping it’s way along the coast.

Needless to say and for all the wrong reasons; we didn’t get a wink of sleep last night due to the high winds and driving rain battering our little unit.

Visions of the awning being ripped from it’s pegs and being blown out to sea were very real and vivid, but thankfully never came to pass.

If you’ve never tried to sleep in a caravan which is being subject to storm conditions; then I would say you haven’t lived. Beats any theme-park ride for the adrenalin rush!

In the morning the winds had died down and the ground was sogged, minimal damage: just a few pegs pulled out and a misshapen awning was all that was left to show that Bill had made his mark before leaving.

Then the sun came out!

What bizarre weather we have here in the UK.
