After what seems like an eternity since we lost our van and tow-car in December’s fire and the subsequent farting around with various insurance companies throughout the subsequent weeks, I’m pleased to announce that we’re back into the world of caravanning with a vengeance.

After days of chasing our car insurance people and in particular the specific ‘file-holder’ for our claim, who never returns our calls I may add; we have eventually got a payout for our main family car that we are happy with. (more…)
Insurance: What’s the Point?
23 DecIf you’re like us, you’ve probably had it drilled into you over the years that you ‘need’ insurance to ‘protect you’ against life’s little misfortunes and accidents.
The principle being that the money one pays into the collective pot on a monthly basis is then used to compensate you for any losses that you may suffer. This compensation is then used to return you to the same state you were in previous to the loss. (more…)
Written Off and In the News

It’s official.
This morning I received a letter from my car’s insurance people informing that ‘repairs to my car were uneconomically viable’. In other-words, it’s been written off! It would have cost about £6K to repair the body-shop told me.
The Long Goodbye

Today has been an eventful one so far.
First of all I took delivery of another hire car for Debbe which is to replace the P107 I baulked about in my last post. The reasons for this I’m not going to go into here as quite frankly, it’s complicated. (more…)
Fire Update
14 DecAfter last Thursday’s shenanigans, we’ve been spending a lot of time talking to insurance companies and various levels of police officers.
All of this warranted a complete wipe out for Thursday and Friday of last week work-wise and most of Sunday, compiling a list of the stuff we had stored in the caravan for the insurance.
