Insurance: What’s the Point?

If you’re like us, you’ve probably had it drilled into you over the years that you ‘need’ insurance to ‘protect you’ against life’s little misfortunes and accidents. 

The principle being that the money one pays into the collective pot on a monthly basis is then used to compensate you for any losses that you may suffer. This compensation is then used to return you to the same state you were in previous to the loss. (more…)

It’s official.

This morning I received a letter from my car’s insurance people informing that ‘repairs to my car were uneconomically viable’. In other-words, it’s been written off! It would have cost about £6K to repair the body-shop told me.

Fire Update

After last Thursday’s shenanigans, we’ve been spending a lot of time talking to insurance companies and various levels of police officers.

All of this warranted a complete wipe out for Thursday and Friday of last week work-wise and most of Sunday, compiling a list of the stuff we had stored in the caravan for the insurance.
