That’s it we’re back!

The official, collective family holiday at Dunstan Hill CCC ended on Saturday as everyone else went home, however we choose to stay on over the August Bank Holiday weekend on our own for an extra three nights.

After a long break away from our van we set off up to the CCC site of Dunstan Hill once again for a ten day holiday (20th Aug – 30th Aug) with Missus Capers’ side of the family. Continue reading

Getting Kitted Out

6 Jul You Can't Beat a Decent Sun Lounger

Our quest to re-kit our van following last December’s sparks and smoke continues.

At the moment we’re now looking around for some chairs. Some director style chairs and a couple of sun lounger style ones. Easy enough you may think. But being the fussy buggers that we are, not so; particularly as we’re very cost conscious at present.

We’ve looked at various ones both online and offline, but to be honest either the cost is too high (£130 for a single chair – I don’t think so!) or they are crap, quality-wise (nasty plasticy rubbish).  Continue reading

The Leyburn Rally Strikes a Chord

7 Jun Our Fleetwood Colchester Van with it's Pyramid Corsican Awning

When they’re deciding what clobber to pack, the ever changing English weather must confuse the hell out of foreign tourists who visit our shores.

By way of an illustration as to what I mean, take last weekend for instance: June 3rd – 5th, which was when we were away again in our van at a YDCC organised rally situated in a freshly mown field at Cow Close Barn, which itself is just outside the pretty town of Leyburn in North Yorkshire (Map Link). Now We’re Cooking on Gas

4 May bbq-chefs

We’ve just sold on eBay, the porch and full Isabella awning that we used with our previous Van.

This is good, as it gives some more, much needed funds towards kitting out our new Van becuase if you remember, last December we lost everything in a fire. Consequently we’re having to buy everything again from new starting with knives and forks upwards. Continue reading
